Can you imagine spending the first Christmas Day with your new baby in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in hospital? Well, that is the reality for at least some of the 90,000 babies born prematurely in the UK each year. So, as we approach Christmas and think about giving to those people who are not as fortunate as us, Mama Bamboo wants to ask our customers to consider giving, through our Give Another Mother scheme, to those parents who are not having the first Christmas that they imagined.
Mama Bamboo’s Give Another Mother scheme allows you to donate money towards nappies for the five NICU units that we support through our Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity partnership. Mama Bamboo matches every pound donated and sends much needed nappies and wipes for use by parents with premature and sick babies on the NICU’s. This partnership, in conjunction with additional Mama Bamboo nappy donations to the Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity, has resulted in over 50,000 sustainable bamboo nappies being donated, supporting nearly 1500 families.
Donations of these nappies make the first few stressful days in NICU units just a little easier on parents who have often been thrust into parenthood earlier than planned with preemie babies or who have not had time to think about some basics whilst caring for their sick children. Often babies in NICU are also very small so finding nappies which are small enough fit as well as being kind to baby’s delicate skin can fall down the list of things to do. Our specially designed Size 0 nappies are extra small for the tiny babies but also super soft for their sensitive skin.

Our little team will jog and walk around the city of London in the hope of raising some money for this fantastic charity.
